Initial & Annual Commercial Diving Medicals
All commercial diving is regulated by the Health and Safety Executive (NI) and in Great Britain by the sister organisation the Health and Safety Executive.
Every commercial divers requires a medical on an annual basis with a Approved Medical Examiner of Divers (AMED) to ensure that they remain fit and healthy to dive.
We offer both initial and annual diving medicals on behalf of the HSE (NI) which are recognised by the HSE (GB), and the diving regulators in Ireland and Norway.
Initial Diving Medical
takes approximately 1 hour
It requires a copy of the HSE health declaration to be completed by
the individuals GP and brought to the medical examination.
What can you expect at the Medical?
At the medical you can expect a discussion about any health conditions you may have followed by a thorough medical examination including, a hearing test and tests to measure your lung function in addition to a simple fitness test (the Chester Step Test).
On completion you will be issued a certificate by the doctor which will detail your fitness for diving status.
As part of an initial and annual diving medical examination we offer through year follow up by email and telephone should you have any conditions that may impact on your fitness to dive. Should a review or additional medical be required the cost of such will be outlined and agreed in advance.
You can rest assured that your diving medical examination will be undertaken by Dr Dermot Gardiner, a Consultant Occupational Physician with experience in diving medicine and fitness for work assessments.
